Preparing for a Long Distance Bicycle Adventure

Bicycle Touring Unique Moments
For baby boomers who love to ride bicycles, and that includes about 40 million or more of you, it’s possible that you may feel the wanderlust of your youth that still resonates in your bones.

If it does, today, you enjoy retirement and infinite possibilities to explore this planet via plane, boat, train and cruises.  For those who enjoy physical exertion, a bicycle journey across America or Europe may be the right ticket for you to punch.  Journeys on bicycle allow you to live “on the edge of wonder” for days, weeks and months at a time.

How do you prepare for such explorations?  How do you become physically fit?  How do you purchase the right bike, clothing and gear?

For those of you who dream of such an outrageously exciting adventure, you may find the answers in three books by this author:  Bicycling Around the World: Tire Tracks for Your Imagination;  How to Live a Life of Adventure: The Art of Exploring the World; and Old Men Bicycling Across America: A Journey Beyond Old Age.

All three books give you several chapters on everything you need to know about buying a touring bike, fitting it to your body, outfitting yourself with camping gear, clothing, along with pack lists and all other points for preparing for a long-distance bicycle adventure.

Once you gather all the gear you need, you must train your body for the journey.  It’s a matter of starting out easy and growing your distances until you reach your optimal conditioning for riding long distances.

How to Live a Life of Adventure: The Art of Exploring the World

Living a Life of Adventure
Writers, artists, sculptors and other creative individuals share one thing in common:  expansive living through imaginative action.  That innovative process rendered Michelangelo’s “David”; Van Gogh’s “Starry Starry Night”; and Jack London’s “Call of the Wild.”

Mountain climbers, sailors, bicyclists, skiers and world travelers share another gift in common: living a life of adventure via high energy expression in their chosen realms.  Blind Erik Weinmeyer climbed all seven tallest peaks on seven continents; Captain Cook sailed all the oceans of the world; Thomas Stevens rode a high wheeler bicycle around the world 1884-1886; Lindsey Vonn became the greatest alpine skier in history; and Marco Polo traveled the world in his time.

Each adventurer carried/carries certain energy for maximum living.  As the great writer R.J. Rowling of Harry Potter fame said, “Let’s us step out in the night and pursue that flighty temptress—adventure.”

Whether you love canoeing, hiking, climbing or cycling, this book provides you with 12 concepts and practices that thrust you into your dreams.  You learn how to find your dream, chase your dream, catch your dream and live your dream.  It may be travel, artistry, climbing mountains or backpacking around the world.  It could be standing on the Wall of China or planting your feet on the South Pole.  The author shows you how to find your dream and reach your chosen destination.  Captivating and compelling reading that impels you to action!
